The composing of the Concerto began as far back as 1999 and slowly evolved into a three movement work, with the middle movement involving the most unusual and haunting Chorale by JS Bach: Ihr Gestirn, Ihr Lüfte (You shinning stars, you vaulted skies) which indeed inspires the entire work. The concerto was written for and commissioned by pianist Simone Dinnerstein. It has been performed by the Atlanta, Boulder, Shreveport and Frost School Symphonies, as well as the Berlin and Leipzig Radio Orchestras.
