Inspired by the great C minor Brahms Piano Trio Op.
101, the Trio in F# is a dark and brooding work, punctuated
by a joyous and optimistic Scherzo. The composer writes:
" the Scherzo comes from my American side. It's
open harmonies and noble demeanor speak of the light
in mid-afternoon on a New England common in early June."
