Written as a stand-alone work or to be paired with its counterpart,
So Says the Wind. Manchester Miniature, as the title suggests, is
made up of four miniature movements fused into one rounded-binary
structure. A mini Allegro movement begins and ends the work separated
by a miniature scherzo and terse slow movement. The composer writes:
"Manchester Miniature speaks in my American voice. Clearly
influenced by the majestic forested hills of Vermont in the richness
of late summer foliage, the work reflects that profound optimism
which sings through the great landscapes of New England."
